LIZARDVILLE SLITHERS ACROSS TOWN

John Lane and his golden creation Winking Lizard has been a staple of the craft beer scene in Northeast Ohio for more than 25 years. Already known for their array of beers — more than 100 in bottles — and rotating taps of more than a dozen each month on draft, the inevitable next step was a retail store.

In early 2011, Lizardville came to be. Housed in the original location of the first Winking Lizard in Bedford Heights and featuring over 600 rare and unique beers and another eight on draft, it became a mecca for beer aficionados. The Lizardville beer store and whiskey bar allows drinkers to have any bottled beer chilled and poured for drinking in less than 10 minutes or a chance to fill a growler of one of the obscure brews on draft.

Just a few weeks ago, Lane opened Lizardville’s location numero two. Located in Rocky River, the second building is a chance for the brand to expand to the other side of town.

“We felt Rocky River’s demographics would be a great fit for the Lizardville concept,” Lane said. “It is modeled exactly after the Bedford Heights store except it has two more draft beers available.”

Lane isn’t stopping there. Also on deck for August is a bar and grill in Cleveland’s Galleria, which will feature a tap list focusing on Ohiomade beers, wines and liquors near the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum downtown.
